About this website

You and I are probably a lot alike. We're all learning and growing every moment. We all have sorrows and joys. We're all a little anxious about the unknown future. But I know from personal experience that not every stepfamily on earth is one little slip from the bottomless chasm. Some of us have perfectly acceptable families, even if our families aren't perfect.

I'm just an ordinary woman, who got together with an excellent man, who happened to have three daughters from a previous marriage. My own daughter's father is remarried and she now has a stepmom and a baby sister. My ex-inlaws live less than a mile from my house, and we talk almost every day. We're an interesting family.

I myself do not pretend to be a psychologist or to have "all the answers" to solve your family problems. Come to think of it, nobody can really offer you "all the answers," because each family is unique. There are a lot of smart people around who are in the business of helping families and parents become more successful. A few of those people are represented on this website.

I've discovered so much information about parenting and families on the internet. Not all websites are created equal, as you already know. My intention is make this website useful, fun, and positive. There won't be much talk about how awful teenage stepdaughters can be, and how some days you'd love it if the "EX" was kidnapped by aliens. Life can be hell for any family, but it's not always hell. One ray of sunshine gives a person hope for another day.

This is the only advice I'll offer you, this one and only time: If you've tried everything and feel like giving up, try again. Believe me, with so many smart people in the world who are willing to help, there's no way you've tried "everything." Reach out for help, and trust that help will come to you.You never know which thing you do right now will become the break in the clouds.

There's plenty of sunshine. This website and its electronic newsletter celebrate the joys of stepfamily life.
